/changelog

Things I've changed about this site, mostly for my own benefit when I forget. Posts have their own edit logs at the bottom; this is the meta-changelog — about the site itself, the layout, the build, the shape of the thing.

2026

  • apr 28added /projects, /contact, /colophon, /reading, /til, and this page. (Promoted /projects + /contact to the top nav; the rest are linked from /about and the footer.)
  • apr 09first feed-card kind: photo. Generated as inline SVG — no real photos yet, but the slot is there.
  • mar 14activity-strip at the top of the homepage. Pulses mint. Mostly decoration; honest about being decoration.
  • feb 02switched the body font from system-default to Inter (system-only, no CDN). Single-storey a, slashed zero, here we are.
  • jan 21added tag pages. Five tags, manually built. Will probably regret this when there are twelve.

2025

  • nov 30feed loader: infinite-scroll-shaped, but stops at the end of the pool. Seeded shuffle so reloads are stable.
  • oct 14moved hosting from a US-east VPS to Frankfurt. Latency to me went from ~110 ms to ~12 ms. Mostly for my own ego.
  • aug 03brotli-static enabled in nginx. Saved ~6 KB per page on average.
  • jun 22added /now and /uses. Inspired by the obvious places.
  • mar 11retired the disqus comments. Replaced with "email me, I'll append your note at the bottom of the post". Nobody has complained.

2024

  • dec 01switched from a Jekyll-style build to the current 40-line shell script. Lost: themes, plugins. Gained: my Sundays.
  • sep 09collapsed all CSS into a single style.css, inlined into each page at build time. Three round-trips became one.
  • may 17added the archive page. Sort by year. Tags inline. No JS.
  • feb 02removed Google Fonts. Switched to system-only fallback chains. -240 KB on every cold visit.

2023

  • dec 11added an RSS feed. Two readers signed up the first day. One of them is me.
  • aug 19first version of the dark theme (the current one is the fourth iteration).
  • apr 04domain moved to its current home. The previous one was a wordpress.com URL I'd rather not say out loud.

2020–2022

Pre-history. The site existed but it was a single 60-line WordPress install with a free theme. Most of the posts from those years have been retired (see /archive) and the rest have been edited heavily. There is no useful changelog for that period because I wasn't keeping one.
